Recipe of Bechamel Sauce

 

The bechamel sauce is used in many dishes from lasagna to croquettes. It is also the base used to make a variety of cheese sauces.

 1 tsp flour
 30 g butter
 1 tsp olive oil
 2 cups milk
 Nutmeg
 Salt

Melt the butter together with the oil in a saucepan over medium heat.

Add the flour and stir it quickly into the butter. Cook and stir the mixture. Do not let it brown or darken.

Add the milk to the flour mixture while whisking constantly. Whisk rapidly until smooth.

Add the salt and nutmeg. Cook the sauce over low heat for 10-15 minutes. The longer you cook it, the softer and richer it will be.
